The latest version of FenestraPro for Revit 5.0 for Revit can be downloaded from: https://www.fenestrapro.com/fenestrapro-customer-support-page. On this User Support page of the website. Please click on the ‘Download Version 5.0‘ button to get the installation file.

Download the Current Version from the website

Before installing the software, please close any open Revit sessions that you are using. It is not necessary to uninstall any previous version of FenestraPro but you may do so if you wish. Double click on the installation file to install the application on your machine. The software will then appear as a new icon on the Add-in Menu of Revit.  Users with existing license subscriptions will be able to continue using the same license (as your current version is being upgraded to a newer one).

Note: Windows Defender SmartScreen may show a warning on your desktop to confirm the installation – you may click on ‘Run anyway’ to proceed. This is a normal security precaution in Windows.

Alternatively, to avoid this, after downloading the file from the website, you may browse to the file location (eg. Downloads folder), right-click on the file and choose Properties. A new window will open where, in the General Tab, you may check Unblock. Click Apply and OK to close this window. You may then install normally without any security message from Windows.

 

Unblocking the Application before installing (optional)

If you wish to install an older version of FenestraPro and your existing installation is more recent, the more recent existing version will need to be uninstalled first since this will prevent you from installing an older version in place of it eg. if you have v5.0 installed and you wish to revert to v4.2, please uninstall v5.0 first. Older versions may always be upgraded to newer versions without uninstalling the current version on your machine. If you have a current license subscription, it will continue as before. You will not need to input the serial number in the new version.

Version 5.0 manages the stored results of previous sessions. When version 5.0 is installed, it will rename the FenestraPro folder on your local machine which has cached all the solar data and logs from previous models. A new FenestraPro folder will be created for v5.0. This avoids having to uninstall older versions of the software or the need to delete any existing files. This folder contains data used during analysis, Building Codes that are created, Shading results etc.

Note: Any models which have previously been used with FenestraPro will need to have results re-calculated once a new version is installed.  Any properties or options set in FenestraPro during previous sessions will also be lost. If you wish to maintain results for a project, you may copy the relevant files from the existing FenestraPro folder (before any new installation is started) and save them to a temporary folder on your machine. When the installation has completed and the new FenestraPro folder is created automatically, you may copy and paste these files into the new folder.

An unattended installer is also available for deployment where a command-line utility may be used. The Application may then be installed on several machines without users having to input any serial number when opening FenestraPro in Revit. FenestraPro for Revit includes Linc which is a database of Glass Types. Linc will need to modify the file which contains the Construction Types in Revit. By accepting the terms of the License Agreement, consent is given to allow FenestraPro to add additional entries to this list so that they appear in Revit.

Note: If the Constructions.xml file is manually modified and then saved after FenestraPro is installed or if another version of the file is substituted at any time, writing of the new Glazing Types from Linc may stop working as the new file may not have the permissions necessary to allow editing. This may be resolved by re-installing FenestraPro.

Alternatively, while security permissions may be manually set for this file, this is an advanced process and is recommended to be done by those with sufficient competence.
