6.2.3 Selected Surfaces

2 minutesread

The options available in the Facade Manager will be different depending on the selections made in the Facade Navigator. If no selections have been made or all checkboxes are selected, settings defined will apply to all areas of the model.  When specific Facades or Surfaces are selected, settings will only apply to these areas.

Surfaces may be selected/deselected in the Façade Navigator.  You may then control the settings for just those selected surfaces – Glazing Specification, Glazing Dimensions, Shading Specification, Fritting Specification and distance and heights for Surrounding Buildings.

Note: You may also make selections by using the Charts (one Facade (with all Surfaces within) or one single Surface may be selected using the Charts).  You may click into a Façade which will display all Surfaces on that Façade.  You may then click into a single Surface.  Each time, the relevant area will highlight on the model.  To return to all Facades, click on the arrow provided at the top of the Charts.  Please refer to Section 10.0 for more details.

Using the Charts to make selections (the roll up arrow appears to return to all Facades)

The Facade Manager allows thermal specifications to be applied to the selected Surfaces, fritting (patterned effects) to be included, the generation of horizontal shading devices and consideration of surrounding objects which might shade the project.

Ensure that you click Recalculate after any modifications to ensure that the new settings are acknowledged and that the results are updated.

Checking the box beside a Facade in the Facade Navigator, will select all Surfaces on that Façade.  Individual Surfaces may also be selected by clicking on the down arrow to expand the drop-down list and checking Surfaces separately.  In a Conceptual Mass Model, this will change the Façade Manager options to display extra User Controls for Surfaces.  Each of these settings will be explained separately in the following articles.

Selections made in the Façade Navigator or Charts will highlight on the model
